Margaret Priest’s Monument to Construction Workers was installed in Cloud Park (formerly Bay/Adelaide), Toronto, in 1993.
The vertiginous, glimmering structure consists of a grid of oxidized steel members filled in with abstract square panels, some of which represent skilled trades in the construction industry. Ranging from carpentry to glazing to concrete, Priest portrays the trades in what she refers to as an “architectural quilt”.
