TEACHING ART MICRO-CREDENTIAL II OCADU + Blank Canvases
Blank Canvases is partnering with OCAD University to deliver a Teaching Art Micro-credential this summer!
This micro-credential will allow you to gain confidence in teaching art while learning to integrate creative strategies into your teaching practices. Through lectures, dynamic discussions, and studio work, you will be immersed in contemporary and current methods of art-teaching. Classroom activities will equip you with creative and innovative strategies to engage learners in visual arts techniques that emphasize sustainability, innovation, and accessibility. You will experiment with various 2D and 3D materials throughout the micro-credential. Lessons will provide practical and individual feedback on designing engaging, learner-centred lessons and can be customized for specific teaching contexts and classroom models. This micro-credential is in partnership with Blank Canvases.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES 
- Explore current art teaching methods and apply them to lesson ideation,
- Understand, identify, and define studio, community and art teaching strategies,
- Employ studio-based strategies for creating community and collaboration in the classroom.
Create lesson plans that consider
- Designing for sustainability, accessibility, and affordability,
- Engagement, creativity, and inspiration,
- Teaching art in a digital world,
- Diversity, equity, and decolonization,
- Various ages and stages and classroom models,
- Learner-centred principles.
Who is this for?
This micro-credential is for teachers or those wanting to improve their skills and knowledge in art education, and applies to various art education models, including schools, camps, daycares, community-based organizations, private studios and museums or galleries.
Earning your micro-credential badge
As part of the modules in each micro-credential, you will complete assignments and exercises outlined in each micro-credential. These build towards the required evidence for each micro-credential that is submitted at the end of the micro-credential modules.
Successfully demonstrated application the key outcomes as part of the required evidencing will be recognized with a digital badge for the specific micro-credential. A link to the badge will be sent via email that can be added to resumes and posted on social media platforms.

This Course is designed to: Equip teachers with the confidence to teach fun and creative art lessons in their classrooms while meeting the Ontario Ministry of Education's Visual Arts learning outcomes
