About Your Role
Clay & Paper Theatre is currently accepting applications for an Artist-Producer Intern. They will assist and support the Co-Artistic Directors in the day-to-day operations of the company and the production space with an emphasis on hands-on design and realization in the building of puppets, props and other play, parade and pageant images. The intern will have a passion for material arts, theatre, and community-engaged public arts. This person is also interested in supporting how art and theatre get made and how we can open up and bring those experiences to more communities. The ideal candidate will be team-oriented, enjoy a collaborative process, take initiative, find joy in the outdoors, and is interested in social justice matters, and arts access.
The Artist-Producer Intern will become familiar with C&P’s particular brand of community engaged, multi-disciplinary theatre and they will train and work onsite in Dufferin Grove Park where we have been the theatre-in-residence since 1994. Some meeting work may take place online as well.
About You

- You have experience or training in an artistic, production, or communications field.
- Creatively driven and enjoy working directly with artists, creators, and community members.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Self-directed, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule to evenings and/or weekends as required.
- Positive and helpful outlook, flexible and adaptable to changing working conditions and situations; ability to work in a creative - and sometimes hectic, work environment.
- Experience with power tools is an asset.
- Working knowledge of design software and website maintenance are assets.
- A Driver’s Licence is a major asset.
