Safe Haven, a multimedia creation by Alison Mackay (The Galileo Project, Tales of Two Cities) is a concert of masterworks portraying the influence of migration on the cultural life of Europe and present-day Canada. The movement of refugees across 18th-century Europe enriched both the economy and the culture of major cities. Safe Haven explores the influence of refugees on some of the most beloved of baroque composers and celebrates the cross-pollination of art made possible by a welcoming society. Featuring Vivaldi “Winter” from The Four Seasons, works by Lully, Corelli, Bach, and others, Ludwig van Toronto says Safe Haven “…is a jewel box of shiny, enticing treasures that unfold seamlessly over two hours. Leaving the event with a smile on your face is pretty much guaranteed….”
