Land Echoes is an exhibition of works by Toronto-based artists Sylvia Whitton and Diane Pugen that reflect an engagement with the land. Sylvia Whitton, AOCA, is currently an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Art at OCAD University, teaching drawing and painting specializing in figuration, colour and alternative media. Diane Pugen is a Toronto based artist, curator, activist, and educator, whose works in drawing, printmaking, and installation, examine through a socio-political lens, her own and society’s relationships to each other and to the lands they inhabit. Educated at the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Art Students' League of New York, Pugen is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Art, at the OCAD University in Toronto.
Michael J.B. Black graduated from the Ontario College of Art (now OCADU) in 1984, and holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Toronto. Michael has shown his work in Toronto, Hamilton, Charlottetown, Creemore, Thornhill and Peterborough. His work is held in several private and public collections. Michael lives with his wife in Durham Region. He is a Member of Propeller Art Gallery and represented by Canvas Gallery and Arta Gallery, in Toronto
