OPPORTUNITY | INDIGITAL YOUTH COLLECTIVE
imagineNATIVE is excited to introduce the iNdigital Youth Collective to their year round Programming initiatives!
iNdigital Youth Collective
The iNdigital Youth Collective is a group of emerging digital and interactive Indigenous artists based in Toronto and was formed out of a collaboration between imagineNATIVE and ENAGB-IYA. The goal of this initiative is to support Indigenous youth in learning digital creation and building engagement as creatives within the Digital + Interactive sector. Skill- building takes place through practical learning and making, professional development activities, and networking opportunities.
This Collective offers an honorarium and participation in digital media workshops, access to equipment, and an Artists Pass, which includes tickets to films, special screenings, Industry events, and a digital meetup to the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival 2020.
Our first set of activities will be a series of Skins workshops developed and produced by AbTeC as part of the Initiative for Indigenous Futures (IIF). These workshops will take place online and require a computer with a stable internet connection.
About the organizations imagineNATIVE will be working with:
The ENAGB Indigenous Youth Agency focuses on providing cultural, employment, life skills, holistic wellness, and recreational opportunities to Indigenous youth ages 12-24. Programming is designed through Indigenous youth participation, working to build self- esteem, confidence, leadership skills, and self-determination for the next generation of Indigenous voices.
The Initiative For Indigenous Futures (IIF) is a partnership of universities and community organizations, including AbTeC and imagineNATIVE, dedicated to developing multiple visions of Indigenous peoples’ tomorrow in order to better understand where we need to go today. Through its four main components—workshops, residencies, symposia, and archive—IIF encourages and enables artists, academics, youth, and elders to imagine our future selves and communities. IIF is conducted by Aboriginal Territories in Cyberspace (AbTeC), a research network based at Concordia University.
