UNSTUCK is aimed at helping you realize your vision and is offering a production grant to get your project to the finish line!

Are you working on an exciting project that you are struggling to bring to completion because you lack sufficient resources? Did the pandemic or your economic situation derail your photographic production? We have good news to share! UNSTUCK can help move your project forward.

UNSTUCK is aimed at helping you realize your vision. Magenta Foundation in partnership with visual artist Jean-Fran├žois Bouchard, is offering a production grant to get your project to the finish line.

An All Inclusive International Call For Submissions:

We are calling upon ALL lens-based practitioners; those working with mixed media and those with a formal and traditional approach.

Applicants are encouraged to submit a story, rather than singles, as part of the grant application.

This new opportunity aims to target the creation of works in progress and bring them to realization. We are looking for projects which are already in the development phase that will benefit from financial resources.

There are Three Grant Awards Totalling $10,000 CAD

A total of $10,000 CAD will be awarded.

  • 1st Place: $5,000 CAD
  • 2nd Place: $3,000 CAD
  • 3rd Place: $2,000 CAD

The final results will be announced in September 2021.

Judging Criteria for Competition Entries:

We are looking for career based photographers, who have a personal body of work in progress that need support to bring the project to fruition.

As an artist you must have at least 5 years of working and exhibition experience. Your CV will determine your eligibility.

We would like to see original bodies of work, cohesively telling a narrative or story. This work could have been started before the pandemic and became stuck because assistance was no longer available. However, pandemic related work is not part of this grant platform.

This grant is about supporting photographers who need HELP to finish their project and will NOT be awarded towards the creation of a new project.

Call For Submissions: March 18–May 28, 2021.

Submissions should include

  • A series of up to 10 images

  • Please give an overview of your project. (max. 500 words)
  • Please tell us what stage this project is at, and what you need to move ahead.
  • Do tell us how this opportunity would be transformative for your project that is stuck. (max. 500 words)
