Thoughts About Art and Community

With a commitment to ensuring Birkdale Arts Festival is a community-driven event, input, and participation from residents and organizations that reflect the diversity of Scarborough is sought at all stages of program development/delivery. BAF strives to advance principles of inclusion, social cohesion, shared prosperity, and leadership development in Scarborough.

Birkdale Arts Festival provides a collaborative space for artists in Scarborough to engage with the community as they showcase and sell their unique offerings of original art, crafts, photography and handmade objects. Our programming also includes live performances, yoga, and empowering workshops/activities designed to celebrate the artistic and cultural richness of Scarborough, and showcase the public gathering spaces of Birkdale Ravine and Birkdale Community Centre. Admission to the event is free, and we also charge a very reasonable fee for exhibit space to maximize profit for local artists. We also offer exhibit space free of charge to public service and community organizations to increase awareness of programs and services that support Scarborough residents.
