I am a social researcher, a creator, a place-maker, and a capacity-builder dedicated to critical arts/theatre education and diversity, equity and inclusion competence in the arts at-large. I engage in projects in Canada and internationally.
Thoughts About Art and Community
By centring my work on themes of belonging, being, and becoming, I am interested in carving out space for racialized youth, particularly young women of colour, to see their stories represented, to find rolemodels and mentors whose life experiences they can related to, and to experiment with telling their own stories through artistic mediums (particularly using theatre).
I am a skilled theatre artist and writer, grant-writer, workshop facilitator, program evaluator, curriculum developer, and capacity-builder.
I am currently working on taking a one-woman show that I wrote and performed in November 2017 in Toronto, '50 Shades of Brown Girl', and developing it as the focus of a theatre education workshop for teenaged youth.
