Thoughts About Art and Community
My work is heavily influenced by Toronto. I hope to capture and translate onto canvas the complexities of human interaction within the city and its systems thus initiating conversation and dialogue on human expression within urban cities. My community art aims to provide access to art for youth living in low income neighbourhoods and create opportunities for creative self-expression and engagement. My live painting work and installations engage people in the process of creating and hope to bridge the gap between contemporary art and every day artistic manifestation and creation.
As a visual artist I create original and commission pieces of art, offer live event painting as well as live art installation work. I am also a community artist creating and facilitating a program that I run called In Our Shoes which uses sneaker art to engage youth.
