About
Miss Coco Murray is a dancer, researcher, dance instructor, choreographer and community arts programmer. She operates a mobile, dance education business educating diverse audiences about African-Caribbean culture and indigenous knowledge. She was the 2013 recipient of the Canadian Dance Assembly's 'I love dance' Community Award
Thoughts About Art and Community
The genres of today's modern dance are influenced by African indigenous and folk dances. The experience from the classes are geared for members of black, Caribbean communities to embrace dances and rhythms from African ancestry, for diverse populations to gain an in intercultural understanding of their purpose while developing self-empowerment and confidence among participants in a space that fosters community and pride in cultural dance/drum programming.
