Petrichor
About:
Petrichor - a play with music by Erin Brandenburg, songs by Henry Adam Svec, music by Andrew Penner
Petrichor, a term which means the smell of rain on dry ground, is a new play by Erin Brandenburg that offers a prayer for a disappearing rural life and gives an unflinching look at a family of Mennonite migrant workers from Mexico and the Canadian farmers who depend on their labour. Petrichor weaves sparse and lyrical storytelling with original music, animation, and a live soundscape played on original ‘junkstruments’. It tells a story of family, work and land, home and loss and the moments that bring you to your knees in prayer and bring you to your feet in song.
