IHAD- I Had A Dream (call for dancers)
About:
Scarborough Youth Have a Dream
Calling youth dancers ages 13 to 20 to participate in a
FREE Scarborough Arts dance program
Scarborough Arts has a reputation for cultivating youth arts programs and fostering community connections in Scarborough. This year, presented by Scarborough Arts in collaboration with the I Have A Dream Collective and funded by the Laidlaw Foundation, IHAD arises for its first year debut. The new Scarborough dance collective led by youth and for youth engages self-taught youth dancers and encourages them to pursue dance, gaining knowledge, experience and available resources needed to be successful in the field. Through the experiences of a debut year, IHAD strives to reinforce the artistic talents and cultural wealth that exists in Scarborough communities by motivating youth who are ambitious and passionate about dance.
“IHAD is a rewarding program that personifies the artistic passions of our Scarborough youth. The workshops are filled with such energy and motivation. It shows in the work that they do and how they move: they turn their experiences from the outside world and turn it into a vision of dance,” said Jennifer Fabico, IHAD Program Coordinator. “It’s what drives them and they learn from each other.”
Each workshop series will complete work in technique, choreography, the creation of a performance piece and the preparation for a video projects as well as a final culminating feature for the Subtext Multi-Arts Festival in September.
