GBTC is a non-profit children’s and young people’s theatre, founded in 1994. GBTC is based in Hamilton and serves a large area of southwestern Ontario, offering mainstage productions, traveling productions, in-school theatre workshops, theatre classes, and summer and March break theatre camps.
Job Description
Great Big Theatre Company is looking for Drama Instructors & Musical Theatre Instructors for its program of Theatre Arts Classes for children and teens. There are a number of positions available, for the October-to-June term, in the following locations: Ajax, Ancaster, Aurora, Brampton, Brantford, Burlington, Cambridge, Dundas, Etobicoke, Georgetown, Grimsby, Guelph, Hamilton, London, Markham,Mississauga, Newmarket, North York, Oakville, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, St Catharines, Stoney Creek, Stratford, Thornhill, Toronto / Centre, Waterloo, Whitby and Woodbridge. Classes are offered evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 pm and/ or Saturday mornings, 9:30 am to 12:00 noon
Requirements:
This is a contractual position ideal for those who enjoy working with children and young people (ages 6 to 14), and are qualified to do so, and who also have some theatrical experience. Completion of, or enrollment in, a university-level drama program is a requirement; or equivalent teaching and / or acting experience. Vocal music, musical theatre and / or dance required for musical theatre positions. Special skills in areas such as comedy, juggling, on-camera training, stage combat, stagecraft, etc. are welcomed.
