Scarborough Arts is calling on artists, writers and poets of all styles from Scarborough and across Toronto to showcase their creativity in a new digital anthology. Big Art Book is a new project designed to bring creative people of all ages together, featuring free workshops, cash awards and the launch of a digital publication collecting artwork, poetry and short stories. Artists will have work uploaded to bigartbook.wordpress.com throughout the submission process and there is no cost to submit work.

Workshop:
Photographing Your Artwork - Thursday, January 19, 2012  from 3:00 - 7:00pm.
Want to submit to the project but can't get high quality photos of your work? Perhaps you're just interested in learning more about photographing your work. Either way, join us for a drop-in style photography session at 1859 Kingston Road. Bring in 1 - 3 pieces of your original artwork and experience a one-on-one, professional quality photo session. You'll leave with beautifully shot digital photos of your artwork, and the basic knowledge of how to duplicate this at home. If you'd like, you can also submit these very photos of your work to the Big Art Book project, on the spot. RSVP’s are appreciated, to programs@scarborougharts.com

Audio Recording:
Following the submission deadline, selected writers & poets will be invited to record their original pieces at Scarborough Arts as part of an original 2012 audio podcast. The audio program will be published online at www.scarborougharts.com.

Prizes:

*Monica Ladell Award ($150) presented to an outstanding adult poet or writer.
*Scarborough Arts Award ($150) to an outstanding adult visual artist.
*Nikita Marner Award ($150) presented to an outstanding youth visual artist.
