We envision that through our program and efforts the youth will gain a positive experience that will help to develop their creative side. This will lead to a more thorough thought process, increasing their ability to function in all areas of life. By seeing the results of their hard work, the self-confidence and self-appreciation of the youth will be built strongly. The youth will also have access to resources that will build character and experiences that will be vital in their future careers. Most importantly, the youth will be off the streets and out of gang violence and will, as an alternative, be proactive in a positive rewarding future.
Thoughts about art and community:
BG believes that on a community level Jane and Finch has been pumped with programs that provide “band-aid” solutions to an issue that is systemically disastrous. As such, it has now become an inherited belief by most community members and workers, that Jane and Finch does not produce positive respectful Canadian citizens. This issue cannot be resolved in any one program. Through building resilience within the youth of our program and providing them with relevant valuable skills and assets; we believe that we will play a role in the betterment of the community on a whole. In addition, we will use all of our resources to ensure we network and partner with other organizations that believe in the same principles.
