About:
I am a practicing artist-educator and graduate of the Art Education Specialization program at Concordia University in Montreal. I have been teaching visual art in schools and community settings since 2003, all the while making and exhibiting my art. My multi-disciplinary practice has included drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and installation, and I enjoy using a variety of non-traditional materials and processes. My artwork often explores deeply personal territory, and it almost always contains elements of self-portraiture. In my recent works the body is a site for memory and a vehicle for storytelling. I am inspired by feminist approaches to art and art education. I feel that art experiences are a valuable part of community life, as they encourage us to express ourselves, share perspectives, and build a culture of care and understanding.
