StArt Youth Presenting Art looks at the connection between the Arts and community upliftment.

We’re creating an environment where residents from Scarborough’s diverse communities can come together, be engaged and celebrate in the talents of Scarborough’s young emerging artists.

The festival will provide youth with a platform from which they will be able to express themselves, and truly speak to their community.

AUGUST 7 – 11, 2012

TUESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2012 and WEDNESDAY 8, 2012
young aspiring artists can take part in “Master Classes” ( workshops ) in: acting, singing, dance, spoken word, fine arts, photography, video/short film. These interactive “Master Classes” will help strengthen the youth artistically. The classes will be led by some of the most talented professional artists in Ontario.

THURSDAY 9, 2012 and FRIDAY 10, 2012
Youth who are performing at the festival will be able to rehearse in the theatre with lights and sound. We want to help the youth look and sound absolutely fabulous!!

Youth who are displaying art at the festival will have the opportunity to set up their work in the gallery. We want to help them create a wonderful exhibit!!

SATURDAY 11, 2012
StArt Youth Presenting Art 12pm.- 7pm.

IN THE THEATRE:
Music, dance, spoken word, short plays, videos

IN THE GALLERY:
Sculptures, fine arts, photography, crafts, refreshments and mixes by DJ Black Cat

ON THE PATIO:
Drum circle, mural art, face/body painting, button making
