De-Railed Theatre Collective
De-Railed Theatre Collective works with youth in Toronto's priority neighbourhoods, promoting performance as a way of challenging traditional narratives of Canadian history and heritage. De-Railed offers its participants the opportunity to communicate personal experiences and histories, which are often invalidated or contradicted by official records of history. By empowering youth to make connections between their individual stories and Canadian history, and providing a venue for traditionally disenfranchised voices, De-Railed broadens the scope of our social awareness, and appreciation of Canadian history.
